Road Metals Twizel Plant

Engineering & Plant Services has successfully delivered a SIMEM Zingo Master concrete batching plant to Road Metals. The plant is currently operating in combination with our SIMEM 60 tonne Horizontal Silo, another first for us in New Zealand.

The equipment was installed at Road Metal’s Twizel quarry site, located adjacent to the Ohau A hydropower station, and will allow Kiwi Concrete to provide certified concrete to the area using their fleet of concrete mixer trucks, also supplied by Engineering & Plant Services.

The Zingo Master plant offers a capacity of up to 110m3 of concrete per hour and has fully automatic aggregate, cement, water and chemical dosing functions, operating with the latest advances in automation technology.

Road Metals director, Jonny Francis said “we were very impressed with the quick installation time and the quality of the build. The plant is exactly what we require for this area. Based on what we’ve seen so far, we’re ready to commit to additional plants to further expand our operational capacity.”

For over six decades Road Metals have been engaged in the supply and delivery of crushed and screened aggregates. In 1998 Road Metals expanded into ready mix concrete under the Kiwi Concrete brand which has operations throughout the South Island of New Zealand.

The plant and silo were supplied by SIMEM, an Italian company, established in 1963, who excel in the design, engineering and manufacturing of specialised plant and machinery for the construction industry.
